Scott Honaker, N7SS, will present “Designing and building portable radio packages”. Scott’s background includes Microsoft, Radio Depot, Icom and Snohomish County Emergency Management. He is the past president and charter member of the Pacific NW VHF Society, current President of the Microsoft Amateur Radio Club (Microhams) and Chair of the Western Washington Amateur Relay Association (WWARA). Scott’s presentation will show how making your radio operate portably can have a number of advantages. We will look at criteria and options for designing and building portable radio kits, look at a number of styles and learn about sources of information and equipment. There will be some examples to look at and potentially borrow some ideas. If someone has a good example of their own, feel free to bring it and show it off.
Join us for a riveting presentation on the Cougar Mountain Repeater System by Ken Kosters, W7ECK.
It’s all about Go Kits! Bring in your radio comms and personal go kits to share with each other. We did this several years ago and we all learned a lot from each other. If you do not have either of these kits made up yet this will be a great place to learn. For those of you that usually join us with Zoom, how about attending in person and bring your go kits. That would be great! The more the merrier and more to learn.
Paul (W7PFB) and Howard (WA1HEM) – will be talking about Starlink. Starlink is the world’s first and largest satellite constellation using a low Earth orbit to deliver broadband internet capable of supporting streaming, online gaming, video calls and more.
Jeff Banke – NZ2S will be talking about “Test equipment every amateur should consider owning and why.” Jeff has worked in the electronics industry for most of his life, working for companies including AMPEX, Philips, and other digital electronics companies related to television and audio equipment. He is currently the President of the Inland Empire VHF Radio Amateurs club in Spokane area, assisting with maintenance of their 3 repeaters and some others in the area.

Our presenter is Dave W7UUU from Burley, WA. He’s been licensed since 1974 and active for most of that time. Tonight’s program is an educational and entertaining look at limited-space and/or HOA antennas. The basic types and concepts are shown in a short segment to explain each, followed by a 3 minute video with actual SSB audio of 8 such antennas compared back-to-back with rather astounding results. It’s a fun presentation whether you live in an HOA or have acreage with towers.
