January 2024 Meeting Minutes
Snoqualmie Valley Radio Club
Monthly Meeting Minutes
January 5th, 2024
I. Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm on Zoom.
Members in attendance were:
Tom (WA7TBP) – President, Kirt (K7KDW) – Vice President, Lindy (KG7IFA) Treasurer, Mike (KJ7JNG) – Secretary, Rowland (K7RWB), Ralph (KC7QXD), Colin (W2COL), Paul (W7PFB), Konstantin (KK7GCN), Larry (AF7RW), Ken (W7ECK), Bob (KI7RMO), Shawn (K7ATA), Peter (KJ7GHW)
Tom suspended the agenda order to conduct the election for president. Tom had announced he would seek another term for president at the November meeting. Neither Lindy nor Tom received any additional nominations for president before this meeting. Tom asked for nominations from the members in attendance three times. There were no nominations made. Tom accepted a motion to cast a unanimous ballet for him to serve as president for 2024 and 2025. The motion carried.
Tom resumed the normal agenda order.
II. Approval of Board Meeting Minutes
The meeting minutes from the meeting that occurred on December 5th, 2023 were approved.
III. Treasury Report and Financials
Lindy presented the December 2023 financials to the members in attendance. As of 12/31/23 there was $12,262 in the treasury and SNOVARC had 45 paying members for 2023. So far, we have received 2024 dues payments from 15 members. Both member rosters are posted on Groups.io.
IV. Committee and Task Force Reports
Repeater Task Force:
Cougar Mountain Repeater – Tom reported that the UPS equipment that was removed from Cougar and placed in his garage under load has been operating perfectly. Shawn is almost certain that the outlet that the UPS was plugged into had a voltage drop or disconnect due to a wiring issue inside the outlet. Shawn will follow-up with Scott to see if the outlet has been repaired.
Myers Repeater – Programming the repeater remotely would be easier to make time changes and updates if we had a connection through IRLP. The remote capability through IRLP would also possibly allow the Myers repeater be able to link with Cougar repeater. Ken is working on this project.
Carnation Repeater – 4 rack unit equipment case will be ordered before February 1.
Emergency Planning and Mobilization:
EYEWARN – County has some interest if we submit the information via WINLINK.
Education and Community Outreach:
Ham Radio Tech Class – Tom asked the attendees if SNOVARC should host their own Technician classes. The consensus was “no,” but several attendees would be happy to mentor “new” license holders to enhance new license holder’s emergency communications skills.
Thursday Night Roundtable/Ham Development – Suggested to move Thursday night net from the current start time of 8pm to a new start time of 7pm. Then the Roundtable could start at 7:30pm.
Carnation Space:
This is a closed action item. The new Carnation City Hall location is on an indefinite hold.
V. Old Business
Status of Club Shirts – Store is very busy; we need to wait util it slows down a bit.
VI. New Business
