Snoqualmie Valley Radio Club
Monthly Meeting Minutes
April 1st, 2025
I. Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order by Tom at 7:00 pm on Zoom.
Members in attendance were:
Tom (WA7TBP), Kirt (K7KDW) – Vice President, Mike (KJ7JNG) – Secretary, Ken (W7ECK), Rowland (K7RWB), Shawn (K7ATA), Larry (AF7RW)
II. Approval of Board Meeting Minutes
The meeting minutes from the meeting that occurred on March 4th, 2025 were approved.
III. Treasury Report and Financials
As of 4/01/25 there is $7,251 in the treasury. Equipment insurance has been renewed in the amount of $450. Membership is now at 28.
IV. Committee and Task Force Reports
Repeater Task Force:
Cougar Mountain Repeater – Replacement repeater is still under test at Tom’s (WA7TBP) home. The reset relay was installed and it is in port 2 of the power distribution unit. This is a “normally on” relay. This will help alleviate the periodic lock-up problem.
Myers Repeater – The club is planning to link Cougar and Myers together over IRLP. Ken said the internet is there and Sean has the equipment in hand.
Carnation Repeater – The plan is to move the repeater to Chuck and Lindy’s home. Tom and Rowland will perform a site survey with Lindy and Chuck to decide where to place the repeater. Other tenants from the Carnation City Hall building have moved to other locations. We will need to move out the repeater equipment soon because the existing Carnation Town Hall building will be shut down sometime at a yet-to-be-determined date.
Emergency Planning and Mobilization:
EYEWARN – Rowland informed the team that the EYEWARN project will now have EFR oversite. Greg Bawdon will be leading the effort.
Education and Community Outreach:
Thursday Night Roundtable/Ham Development – The Roundtable Net has changed into a “check-in” Net since many of the Hams that do check-in are seasoned ham radio operators.
Equipment Inventory Status – Lindy has been provided privileges to access equipment inventory information. The equipment associated with the new Cougar repeater has been added into the equipment inventory.
V. Old Business
Status of Club Shirts – Sandy’s web problems have been solved, but Mike reported that when he tried to order a cap with the SNOVARC logo. Sandy did call Mike back and left him a VM message – Mike will follow-up with Sandy to get the cap ordered.
Field Day – This year Field Day will be at Valley Camp.
VI. New Business
Future face-to-face club meetings and Elmer sessions: Rowland provided a GMRS/FRS information session at the New Redemption Church on Main Street in Duval. Rowland inquired about the use of one of the rooms inside the church for SNOVARC Meetings and Elmer sessions. He was immediately granted permission to use a room on Thursday evenings by the church pastor. Since EFR took over managing Duval FD, it has been more difficult to reserve a room in the Duvall fire station off Main Street in Duvall.
Ken Kosters will be providing the club with a presentation about the SNOVARC Cougar Mountain repeater and the connectivity to All Star, IRLP and Echo Link. The presentation will take place on 4/3 at 6:30 pm.
VII. Open Discussion
Tom is having a large home remodeling job performed in his home. He will be residing at Valley Camp until the end of June, or when the home remodeling project has been completed.
Meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m
