Committee Reports
⦁ Repeater Task Force / Technical Committee – Dan (KA7GPP)
⦁ New batteries (gel cells) have been put in at the Bell location and set at nominal levels. When we put in the battery charger, we'll send it in to be set up at optimal level. For cross-band, we need to check the battery to see if it needs replacement. If so, we'll get a similar battery to what is there now since we don't need the expensive batteries used for the Bell repeater.
⦁ We still need to label wiring and other minor clean up. But the Bell repeater is ready for winter!
⦁ Rowland (K7RWB): Mike says to talk to Peter, but he doubts there will be any issue regarding ECHO/IRLP Link and Internet as long as it doesn't interfere with anyone.
⦁ Emergency Planning & Mobilization – Rowland (K7RWB)
⦁ Grant status: Tribe application still waiting. But we will split up the project into smaller pieces and put something out on the GoFundMe site since we are now able to get whatever comes in even if it doesn't meet the entire amount. So it is worth a try.
⦁ Regional Network: Tom (WA7TBP) reported that he is working with John Bromberg (Issaquah) to form a regional network to combine our area with Monroe, Redmond, Issaquah, etc. so that we aren't strangers if an event takes place and we need to work together. Perhaps we can have a net after the 3rd Thursday net and rotate to the different nets to host the meeting. We could do a radio exercise, for example, where it is announced that there is a brush fire in one of the areas. Then ask questions like: Who are you going to call? What are you going to do? The goal is to get regional familiarity.
⦁ Education & Community Outreach – Bengt (K7ADD) — NOT PRESENT
⦁ Fall Tech License Class scheduling TBD (Bengt said we will definitely have a class.) Dan (KA7GPP) said that Bengt is very busy and we need 3-4 people to help keep this training going. Shawn (K7ATA) and Larry (N7ART) said they could teach, but we need someone to help with logistics. Contact Dan/Bengt.
Old Business
⦁ KE7GFZ Weekly Net on 441.825 MHz, positive offset and tone of 103.5 MHz
⦁ Carnation Space — Rowland (K7RWB) Still waiting, but all windows are now replaced downstairs for the guy to move. So we're getting closer.
⦁ Continue discussion of priority spending of club funds — Dan (KA7GPP)
⦁ How to make the 857 radio we just fixed portable and packable. Shawn will help Rowland get the backpack unit set up with this radio.
⦁ IRLP equipment
⦁ Dual band to run as cross-band to put in backpack to use as portable repeater that can be taken out and used in our club house space, but easily made mobile (NOTE: It was discussed that we should keep one portable repeater away from our space in case the dam breaks and Carnation space isn't accessible.)
⦁ Reimburse Jerry (NA7Z) the $712.53 he spent to reconfigure a repeater & duplexer. Now that it is working and we will have the space, it makes sense to reimburse him. We still need to have Mike change the frequency (at no cost) and have it as a backup repeater. (THIS WAS APPROVED BY A VOTE OF THE MEMBERS.)
New Business
⦁ CDCCC Board Meeting Report – Dan (KA7GPP)
⦁ Discussed the Training Calendar. We need to get more folks licensed. So a fixed license class schedule will be really helpful.
⦁ Could use volunteers at the information booth on Saturday, 10/10 (see calendar below).
⦁ The new CDCCC Brochure was distributed. This includes a very nice section on SnoVARC.
⦁ Although Dan has enjoyed representing SnoVARC at the CDCCC Board meetings, he thinks it would be very helpful to have 'new blood' attend next year.
⦁ Discussion of 2016 Elmer sessions and substitute sessions – Rowland (K7RWB) SEE ATTACHED LIST
Meeting adjourned at 8:50 pm.
ELMER SESSION was incorporated into the meeting: Set up proposed Elmer Sessions through 2016. The meeting went so late that we didn't have an additional Elmer Session.
Respectfully submitted,
Lindy Friedlander
